Harvard is established in Cambridge, Mass., just out-of-doors of Boston. Harvard’s comprehensive library scheme houses the oldest collection in the United States and the biggest personal collection in the world. There is more to the school than endless stacks, though: Harvard’s athletic groups contend in the Ivy association, and every football time of the year finishes with "The Game," an annual matchup between storied rivals Harvard and Yale. At Harvard, on—campus residential housing is an integral part of scholar life. Freshmen reside around the Harvard Yard at the center of campus, after which they are placed in one of 12 undergraduate houses for their remaining three years. whereas they are no longer recognized by the university as authorized scholar groups, the eight all-male "final clubs" assist as social associations for some undergraduate students; Harvard furthermore has five feminine clubs.
In supplement to the school, Harvard is comprised of 13 other schools and organisations, encompassing the top-ranked Business School and health School and the highly graded Graduate learning School, School of technology and Applied Sciences, regulation School, and John F. Kennedy School of Government. Eight U.S. leaders graduated from Harvard school, encompassing Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. Other prominent alumni encompass Henry David Thoreau, Helen Keller, Yo-Yo Ma, and Tommy Lee Jones. In 1977, Harvard marked an agreement with sister institute Radcliffe school, joining them in an educational joint venture assisting male and female students, whereas they did not officially merge until 1999. Harvard also has the biggest endowment of any school in the world.
